This healthy meal prep chain is continuing its expansion on Long Island — and it’s not slowing down.
Tony Mavruk, owner of Hummus Fit — part of the healthy to-go chain Hummus Mediterranean — announced he is gearing up to open his sixth location at 150 Woodbury Road in Woodbury.
The newest location is a significant milestone for the company, as it is its first eatery in Nassau County, Mavruk said.
“When we first started doing the meal preps and the first restaurant in 2015, we never thought we were going to see the first store,” he said. “To have a sixth location…it’s incredible.”
Mavruk and his wife, Liana, are longtime gym-goers and health enthusiasts.
Mavruk has worked in the fitness industry on Long Island for about 15 years and Liana is a nutritionist and former competitive bodybuilder.
With existing locations in Deer Park, Ronkonkoma and Lindenhurst, Hummus Fit offers nutritious food options and guilt-free snacks for those looking for fitness-focused, meal preparation services.
Hummus Meditteranean is an assembly-style restaurant in Selden and Holbrook that allows patrons to build their own fresh Meditteranean bowls and sandwiches.
What drew the couple to open in Woodbury was their growing customer base in the area, Mavruk said.
“We do home deliveries with our meal preps weekly, but we were getting a lot of requests from that area for a store that was nearby,” he said.
Hummus Fit Woodbury will remain consistent with the overall brand and sister locations. The owner said customers enjoy the store’s set-up and experience that they have perfected over the years.
“We’ve done a facelift of all our locations. This one especially came out beautiful,” Mavruk said. “We’ve made it really convenient for customers to not worry about cooking and staying in shape.”
Another new addition to Hummus Fit is their vegan menu, which includes healthy, protein-packed, vegan meals for those looking for breakfast, salads, lunch and dinner options.
Hummus Fit is hosting a grand opening celebration in Woodbury on Saturday, Sept. 24.
Mavruk said attendees can expect lots of giveaways and plenty of companies sponsoring the event, such as Celsius, Super Coffee, Electrolit and other wellness brands.
Mavruk also teased that Hummus Fit is gearing up to open another Long Island location by the end of the year.
“It’s exciting to see how much love and excitement that we got back from our customers,” he said.
