Long Island farm stands to visit right here on the South Shore

|

Organics Today

69 Washington St., East Islip

Organics Today is a small farm with big options, including 12 different types of Italian and French lettuce, Heirloom and San Marzano tomatoes, Japanese, Sicilian, Italian and white eggplant, among many other fresh and organic vegetables.

For instance, Organics Today is the only grower of broccolini on Long Island. You can also purchase raw honey, bread and pies.

In the fall, they host Moonlite Pumpkin Picking where folks show up with their flashlights and pick pumpkins in the dark, and no one will jump out and scare you. You can, however, just hang out and drink hot cider, if you don’t trust me.

Aside from their farm stand, Organics Today offers herbal tours, farm tours and bee-keeping classes. Locals can choose to donate volunteer hours and sign up for their Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs for produce, and co-ops for grass-fed meat and all-natural poultry.

From March to November, the farm is open daily from 9 a.m.6 p.m.
